Title

The story of Johnny Cash is a tale of an American cultural icon. A furious tangle of talent, myth and resilience, his career spanned an extraordinary half-century. Like all icons, he mirrored his times singing simple, powerful songs about the dreams and longings that resonate in the hearts of millions of devoted fans. He was a man of contradictions: an earthy, hard-living man of great religious faith, and an intensely private individual who felt most at ease performing in public to huge crowds.

CASH: The Documentary is a colorful, high-energy, 90-minute profile
of the man and his music. It is the first documentary to use Johnny Cash’s music to drive the dramatic narrative of his life, from the signature songs that marked his career—I Walk the Line, Folsom Prison Blues, Man in Black—to his concept albums and the final recordings of American IV: The Man Comes Around.

Home movies, still photos and interviews with family members,
musician friends and fans will frame the story of Johnny Cash in an entirely new light. Stills will include the iconic Cash images—the brash young outsider, the wise older sage and the man in black, guitar in hand. Candid shots of him with his good friends over the years seem like an honor roll of American music and include Elvis Presley, Waylon Jennings, George Jones, Jerry Lee Lewis, Carl Perkins, Willie Nelson, Glen Campbell and Bob Dylan.
